Cullifords Summer Barbecue
We were very pleased to receive our invitation to the Cullifords Summer BBQ. Â As well as meeting other stone fabricators and enjoying great BBQ food, we had a chance to mingle with interior designers and specifiers while marvelling at the amazing array of stunning stones.
We have reported on Cullifords open days before; they are a major supplier for us and we love working with their exceptional and exotic stones.
The Worktop Fabricators’ Federation (WFF) was due to meet at Cullifords to discuss issues affecting the stone fabrication industry. Specifically, the WFF had further conversation about the safe handling of materials containing crystalline silica.
Crystalline silica is THE issue of the hour, and it is so good that we have the WFF as an umbrella body for responsible worktop fabricators to discuss, form policy and speak for us all on this area.
A visit to Cullifords is always a joy, even when the weather isn’t wonderfully sunny like it was yesterday. A visit doesn’t happen as often as I would like, as it is always hard to find the time to get out of the office; but when I do, I’m like a kid in a sweetshop with all the beautiful materials. Due to the current trend for using more natural marbles in interiors, it was great to see so many variations in the flesh, and to learn from the really knowledgeable team. I had previously met a lot of the members of the team, but was also able to put some faces to a couple of new names, Dan and Tom.
James Semmens, one of the directors at Cullifords, showed me the difference between two very different blocks of Arabescato Corchia; these natural variations and the use of resins in some blocks, can make a huge impact to the overall cost of the marble worktop installation.
Arabescato, in all types, is really popular right now and understanding what you are choosing and paying for is really important; that is where the experience of the team at Cullifords can really help and why they are trusted by Interior designers and fabricators alike.
All in all a fascinating, educational and rewarding afternoon.
